Sergio Torres Moves On

Whitehawk FC can confirm that Club Captain Sergio Torres has today left the club after three eventful years to embark on a new adventure with local National League South neighbours Eastbourne Borough.

Sergio joined The Hawks three years ago after leaving Crawley Town and immediately formed a key part of the Midfield and a leader for the team, leading us to the Conference South Play-Off Final in his first season, with us narrowly defeated in the final. He then ended the first season with us with silverware, winning the Sussex Senior Cup at the Amex Stadium after a 5-0 win over Lewes. In his second season, Sergio was a key part of our adventure in the FA Cup which saw us reach the Second Round, yet more cup success for the Argentinian who was also an integral part of the Crawley side which pushed Manchester United all the way at Old Trafford in the Fifth Round in 2011. Fortunes changed later that season with a dip in form which saw us drop to the edge of the relegation zone, but following the appointment of fellow countryman Pablo Asensio as Manager, we propelled up the table to finish in the playoffs for the Second successive season, losing out to Ebbsfleet United on penalties.

His third and final season with The Hawks was an eventful one to say the least with various managerial and playing personnel changes, but one of the few constant’s during the season was Sergio leading the team and giving 100% effort every single game, despite our league position. His last success with us wasn’t a trophy, but it was still important as it was National League South safety!

Serg in total made 131 appearances in all competitions during his three years at The Enclosed Ground, scoring 6 goals. Everyone at Whitehawk FC wish to place on record our thanks to Sergio for his effort, dedication and leadership during his spell at the club and we wish him all the very best of luck in his future endeavours.
